About Us

South Bay Musical Improv was born when a few enthusiastic musical improvisers met at a workshop and asked why does musical improv only seem to exist in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley-but literally no place in Santa Clara county?  We decided to change that and so started meeting, laughing, inviting friends to join us and before long...South Bay Musical Improv was born!  We are proud to be the only musical improv community and performing group in San Jose and Santa Clara county, but we look forward to the day when we can no longer say that because so many groups and performing communities and theaters have taken off!

We are happy to be growing organically and add the ideas of others-including you!  Better together!

We also hope to broaden musical improv outside of just the improv world, but cross over to the broader theater world as well!
